One of Britain’s leading “Enthusiast” Railtour Operators to take Class 50s from Preston to Edinburgh on November 19.
The Class 50 Locomotives, numbered 50044 Exeter and 50049 Defiance, will take a slightly circuitous route via Wigan, Bolton, Manchester and Huddersfield, before going through Leeds and Newcastle to Edinburgh.
Pick up points will be at Preston, Wigan North Western, Bolton, Manchester Victoria, Stalybridge, Huddersfield, Leeds and York. Tickets cost between £65 to the Premier Dining option of £169.
After arrival at Edinburgh, a mini-tour is on offer running via Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy from Edinburgh and is expected to use a West Coast Class 47 or Class 57 locomotive. The mini-tour will run for around three hours, at a cost of £25 in advance.
This will be the first tour to use both preserved Class 50s, after an attempt by PTG earlier in the year failed to produce 50049 (on account of a failure).
The Class 50s will run from Kidderminster to Carnforth on Friday 18th, with both of them returning to Cardiff Canton on Monday 21st.
Anyone interested in the charter should look at their website, or telephone them on 08708 793 6785.
