Railtour company Pathfinder are providing a Christmas treat for rail enthusiasts who enjoy the combination of different traction and rare routes.
Pathfinder, one of Britain’s “household” Railtour brands, has offered a Christmas charter which should appeal to many enthusiasts, offering an exquisite balance of varied motive power and rare track.
The train is called “The Festive Jingle Jangle” and runs on December 17 starting at Westbury and running via Bristol and Birmingham, before going to Warrington.
Motive power will be a Class 66, followed by an electric Class 92, and then a Class 60. A Class 08 will also be used to “trip work” the train across Warrington from one yard to another.
Highlights will include the Crewe Independent Lines, (a rarity these days), Warrington Royal Mail Terminal, the Fiddlers Ferry Line, Walton and Latchford Sidings, and Ditton Reception Sidings.
Previous similar Pathfinder trains have seen various locomotive types run to Goole Glass Works, Wrenthorpe Sidings in Wakefield, Hornsey, East Ham Depot and Aldershot.
