Notes and News from June 16th.
The 14.50 Aberdeen to King’s Cross failed near Durham and the train was terminated. Nos. 43314 and 43257 were the Power Cars and ‘Thunderbird’ No. 67025 was sent from Newcastle to bring the faulty train back to Heaton depot.
Class 47s Nos. 47810 and 47501 were employed on a ‘Northern Belle’ working from Manchester Victoria to Ascot for the horse racing. The train was stabled at Stewarts Lane depot in south London before the return trip.
Meanwhile sister VSOE train ‘The British Pullman’ was out in Kent with Nos. 67002 and 67109 providing the power.
Type 5 No. 66716 was used to drag South West Train’s EMU No. 455866 back from overhaul at Ilford depot in Essex to its Wimbledon home.
No. 67022 dragged ‘Gatex’ EMU No. 442410 back from overhaul at Wolverton Works to Lovers Walk depot in Brighton.
New EMUs Nos. 379028 and 379003 did a mileage accumulation run from Crewe to Northampton this afternoon. Already in service No. 379025 was named ‘Go Discover’ in a ceremony at Stansted Airport.
Steam loco No. 34067 ‘Tangmere’ hauled a railtour from London Victoria through to Swanage on the Swanage Railway. Diesel No. 37516 was at the rear.
